Carpet & Wood Floor Liquidators is proud to announce that we are now a 100% employee-owned company. This announcement of the sale to the Employee Stock Ownership Plan & Trust (ESOP) was made to Carpet & Wood Floor Liquidators’ employees in late January.
Headquartered in Baltimore, MD, Carpet & Wood Floor Liquidators began as a wholesaler of excess inventory for the carpet mills, and over the past 30 years has evolved and grown into a full service multi-family residential & commercial flooring contractor business.
Coinciding with the sale, Randy Pleasant, the president of the company, will transition into a consulting and business development role. Bob Nichols, who has been with the company for 5 years, has transitioned from chief operating officer to CEO and president.
For 30 years, Carpet & Wood Floor Liquidators has striven to be the best full-service flooring company in the mid-Atlantic region by providing great value and excellent quality control. We have found that while our customers are always pleased with their new floors, what tends to leave a greater impression is their experience with our team. As a full-service flooring company in the Mid-Atlantic, our hard-working, dedicated employees are the lifeblood of Carpet & Wood Floor Liquidators.
As quoted in the Baltimore Business Journal, "To me it's an enhanced retirement program for [employees] and giving them an opportunity to earn additional dollars they wouldn't have been able to earn," Nichols said. "I know that saving is a very difficult task for anybody to accomplish, especially in difficult times like this. This is a way for them to gain some financial wherewithal without having to save anything. All they have to do is perform at a high level in their job and they will reap the benefits of that if and when they leave or retire."
We expect that providing ownership to employees will lead to greater employee satisfaction, reduced turnover, and a more rewarding work experience. As a 100% employee-owned company, we can create a more meaningful company-wide culture of employee empowerment and responsibility.
